What is Stargardt disease?

Stargardt disease, is an inherited disease and is a form of macular degeneration which causes central vision loss.
This condition is diagnosed during childhood or adolescence
Stargardt disease may be referred to as juvenile or early onset macular degeneration.
Vision loss which is associated with Stargardt disease is caused by the degeneration of photoreceptor cells located in the central portion of the retina .
These photoreceptor cells convert light into electrical signals which are then sent to the brain and processed in order to create vision.
The macula is a central area in the retina, rich in photoreceptors. The Macula is responsible for the central vision tasks such as reading, color perception etc.
The hallmark of Stargardt disease is decreased central vision due to loss of photoreceptors in the macula.
RevitalVision may improve impaired vision as a result of different eye diseases including Stargardt disease. The RevitalVision program is approved by the FDA and each treatment is adjusted individually in order to improve your vision.
