Cataract surgery takes approximately 10 minutes, after the procedure you will need someone to drive you home. A protective shield will be placed over your eye and is important to be used especially during the night.
Your vision might seem cloudy, blurry or distorted ; red and bloodshot eyes might develop but will disappear within a few days.
Many patients report clear vision within several hours after cataract surgery. But each person heals differently, and you may need as long as a week or two before you see images in their sharpest focus. Cataract surgery aftercare will include a follow-up appointment with your surgeon the day after the procedure in order to rule out complications. If there is no improvement in blurry vision or any other significant discomfort in the days following this visit, you should report this to your surgeon. Although recovery is quick and easy it is important to make sure to follow the doctor’s instructions for Cataract surgery aftercare, for example using the drops and medications which are prescribed.
